Maintenance and Repairs to Sewer Mains

Dear Gilgandra Shire Residents

MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS TO SEWER MAINS

Interflow Pty Ltd has been contracted by Gilgandra Shire Council (Council) to conduct maintenance and repairs to sewer mains located in areas of Gilgandra. Work is scheduled to commence in the middle of May 2024 with expected completion scheduled for late July 2024.

The purpose of this work is to improve the sewer system, which helps protect our local environment and the public health of our community.

The activities associated with this work include the following:

  • Closed circuit television (CCTV) inspection of the sewer mains
  • High pressure water jetting
  • Local excavation work
  • Rehabilitation of sewer mains

In some instances, the rehabilitation process of sewer mains will require the entry of Interflow staff into the backyards of properties that have a sewer Access Chamber. Interflow staff do not need to enter your house and will not require a responsible person to be home while this work is being carried out. Interflow will provide two (2) business days notification via a letter box notice if access is required. Please contact Interflow on the number provided to confirm access onto the property.

It is advisable to leave your toilet lids down with a small weight placed on the lid (about 2kg) while cleaning works are being completed, to ensure that accidental spurts are avoided.

Some residents may experience an increase in noise, vehicle movements, and odours while work is being carried out. Council acknowledges the impacts that these works may have on surrounding residents, and every effort will be made to minimise these impacts.

For further information please contact Council’s Urban Services Manager on (02) 6817 8800, or via our email council@gilgandra.nsw.gov.au.

Council appreciates your cooperation.
