Exciting news for Gilgandra Shire!
An announcement from Kevin Humphries revealed exciting news for Gilgandra Shire yesterday thanks to the Regional Cultural Fund!
Our Gilgandra Shire Library was successful in funding for almost $500k with Stage 2 works on the extension planned to allow for additional space, including outdoor decking, after hours use, all-abilities access and amenities and office space!
While the Coo-ee Heritage & Visitors Information Centre will receive just over $1.5m towards modern improvements, climate control, interactive displays including decibel reader (who will be the loudest?!) and Hitchen Brothers hologram, Windmill Walk upgrades, Aboriginal sculpture, bush tucker garden, outdoor murals as well as infrastructure such as upgraded car park and solar farm.
An additional space for learning and events will also be developed.
These elements are to present the three themes for the Centre, as decided by Council and community of Military history; Aboriginal heritage and our farming and landscape in more interactive ways allowing for adaptive learning and a greater visitor experience!
We look forward to completing these works over the next few years and will be engaging with the community throughout the process!
Thankyou to all those that took part in workshops, surveys and feedback for both the Library and Coo-ee Heritage Centre projects!
