The Gilgandra Region > Communications for Resilience network project enhancements will boost resilience whilst facilitating the institution of a robust LoRaWAN network, creating ability to capture and analyse data to provide for early warning.

The installation of ‘buried’ infrastructure in combination with wireless technology will reduce the risk of future damage and outage during storm events.

This project will enhancement of Gilgandra’s existing radio network that connects various town services such as the community, youth, disability, recreation and emergency services.

Resilience will be further enhanced as the existing radio network becomes the redundancy network, ensuring improved services to respond during future adverse weather events.

This modern technology will further allow for public access and connection to the network to ensure communications and social connection.

After detailed planning, design and an open tender process, SIMTEC Surveillance and Security was awarded a contract.

The Gilgandra Region > Communications for Resilience network  is made possible with the assistance of funding from the Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Program through the Department of Regional NSW.

Implementation of this project has commenced and is expected to take 6 months.
