TENDERS CALLED FOR NEW SES HEADQUARTERS

Published on 05 May 2020

The new NSW State Emergency Services (SES) Gilgandra Headquarters is progressing, with construction tenders called.

Gilgandra Shire Council’s Project Manager, Brian Irvin says,

“The new Gilgandra SES Headquarters building will provide the Gilgandra SES unit with 24/7 responsive capabilities in its Emergency Operations Centre which will allow events to be managed at a local level, as well as being a back-up location for other emergency services.”

Adding,

“The project is now at the tender stage, with tenders closing Friday, 29 May. Once tenders are received and assessed, it is anticipated that a contractor will be engaged with the works on site commencing soon after.”

Unit Commander, Geoff Kiehne says that the new Headquarters will assist Gilgandra into the future.

“From the perspective of the Gilgandra SES Unit, this new Unit HQ project will truly bring us into contemporary times and will see us move forward with a positive future. Our current HQ is very dated and in a number of respects is actually holding us back.”

“There are a number of ways in which the new HQ building will support our members far better – be it, whilst training, meeting or undertaking an operation. It will allow us to better support to the community of Gilgandra.”

“In my role as Unit Commander, I see this as an opportunity to refocus our Unit and provide a facility which will cater for growth. All up, exciting times ahead for our Unit.”

The joint project is funded in equal shares by the SES, Council and the NSW Office of Responsible Gambling, Clubsgrants Infrastructure Grant.

Tenders are advertised through Tenderlink with a link available on Council’s web site.
