COUNCIL CELEBRATES VOLUNTEERS SERVICE

Published on 02 December 2019

Close to 100 volunteers attended Council’s annual Volunteers Christmas luncheon on Thursday, 21 November.

 Mayor Doug Batten says,

“We are incredibly lucky to be part of this community with such a generous, volunteer spirit. Across Council services alone we have around 200 volunteers who are actively involved within the Gilgandra community, not to mention those volunteers who are part of external organisations.”

 Adding,

“It is the generosity and the dedication of these volunteers that have such a positive impact on our community and visitors. The opportunity to have so many together in one room is quite special.”The Luncheon is held to celebrate all volunteers throughout Council & this year was no exception. The highlight was congratulating Janine Byrne for over 50 years of volunteering for Council.

Mayor Batten thanked Janine for her service.

“Janine has been tireless in her efforts for the Gilgandra community, and we are thankful for her time spent working with Meals and Wheels over so many years. Janine is truly an inspiration.”

Council would like to thank the Gilgandra Services Club for the lunch and invite any persons who are interested in volunteering at one of our many location, including the Coo-ee Heritage Centre, Meals on Wheels and Library, to name a few, to please contact us on 6817 8800 or visit www.gilgandra.nsw.gov.au
