Australia Day 2019 Award Nominations Open

Published on 05 November 2018

Gilgandra Shire Council is now calling for nominations for the 2019 Australia Day Awards.

Acting Mayor, Cr Ash Walker encourages people to submit their nominations for the many deserving citizens and groups within our community.

“You don’t have to look far in a community like Gilgandra Shire for people, community organisations and events that make significant contributions.”

“The awards process is an excellent way to acknowledge and recognise these people, so it is important for our community to have a think about who would be suitable and send in your nominations.”

Nominations are being called for in the following categories;

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Sporting Achievement Award
  • Community Event of the Year
  • Community Group of the Year

Nomination forms are available from Council’s website, Council’s Administration Office in Warren Road or Service NSW in Miller Street.

Council will also be considering nominations for inclusion on the Sporting Roll of Honour.

A set selection criteria has been developed by the Sports Council and adopted by Council to assist in this process.

Should you be aware of any person worthy of nomination, please contact Council's Julie Prout on 6817 8800.

Nominations will close on Friday, 11 January 2019.

Australia Day, 2019 is set to be another great celebration as Council are again part of the Ambassador Program, with announcements of the nominated Ambassador for our area to follow.
