AUSTRALIA DAY AMBASSADOR ANNOUNCED

Published on 18 January 2021

On 26 January, Gilgandra will come together as a community to reflect, respect and celebrate – because we are all part of the story.

Join Australia Day Ambassador, Ms Zoe Naylor, as Gilgandra gears up to celebrate Australia Day!

Zoe is no stranger to film, television and stage having graced our screens for the past 25 years in such productions as The Reef, Mcleod’s Daughters, Gladiators, Book of Revelation, MTV Australia, Qantas, NRL Footy Show, NZ’s Orange Roughies, Sportscafe….and much, much more.

Zoe is also a national ambassador for Tourism Australia, Australia Day, RUOK? and Australian Organic and is passionate about her work as a mother, Entrepreneur, Producer, Activist and Philanthropist.

Having spoken quite publicly about her history of addiction, Zoe now mentors women globally as part of her @KaftanMama wellness enterprise and is far more passionate about helping people create ‘A life of their dreams’ than chasing the latest red carpet.

She has also taken to producing, establishing Eagle Rose Productions alongside her fiancé, Aaron Jeffery – a production company dedicated to help people connect more deeply with their human experience.

Zoe’s recent homebirth experience birthing her second child, Beau she says is by far her ‘greatest achievement to date’. Zoe has since co-founded Birth Time (the movement) and co-written, directed and produced, Birth Time: the documentary. It is due for nationwide cinema release February, 2021.

Zoe is proud to be an Australia Day Ambassador and to visit Gilgandra and join in with our community celebrations.

Acting Mayor Cr Ash Walker, is delighted that Zoe has taken the time to join Gilgandra for this celebration.

“Australia Day is such a special community day and an opportunity to showcase what’s great about Gilgandra especially following what has been a challenging twelve months for everyone. We all have different stories to share about this country and Australia Day is an opportunity to remember how fortunate we are to live together here in Australia. I know that Gilgandra will put on a memorable day and having Zoe here to share her story just makes it all the more special.”

Council will also be officially opening the upgraded Peter Veness Skate Park in Hunter Park directly following the Australia Day celebrations and invites everyone to come along.

“The Peter Veness Skate Park has recently undergone some welcomed upgrades thanks to funding through the Stronger Country Communities program to improve the facility and enhance user experience. It is a wonderful attraction for our local youth and it’s been great to see the number of users enjoying the new design recently and showing off their skills!” says Cr Walker.

Adding,

“Council’s Youth Services also recently held a Totem Skateboarding workshop, which was enjoyed by 35 local youths where they further developed their skills and ability in skateboarding”

Ash encourages all members of our community to participate in the local activities on offer.

Australia Day Ambassadors generously volunteer their time and share their Australian story at hundreds of community events on Australia Day. Our Ambassadors continue to inspire communities where they become a guest of honour and participate in activities as diverse as the communities themselves.
