An extensive and exciting range of agricultural plant and machinery is housed in the Museum. Items of interest include; Howard Rotary Hoe - invented in Gilgandra in 1920, Ridley Stripper, Ruston & Proctor Steam Traction Engine.

The Rural Museum is located on the Newell Highway (Dubbo Rd) on the Southern approach to the town of Gilgandra, right alongside the Visitors Information Centre. Light refreshments such as drinks and ice creams are available. There are toilets on site including a disabled access. Ask at the front office for directions to the disabled access and toilet.
